 Fire Peace

Writer's picture: Steve CSteve C

Updated: May 20, 2024

Campfires are a blessing

For tired brains;

They require

No thinking.

The redhot coals pulse

With life,

Ashes lift, relieved

Of their burdens,

And smoke curls free,

Releasing a bouquet of smells

That evoke images

So real

They dance in the heart

Of the redhot coals

Fire cleanses,

And from the ashes

Eventually will sprout

New life.

"Ashes lift, relieved

Of their burdens," . . . Leaving our cares behind is a savory image. I like it.

Kurt--

This brings a special image to mind. I especially think the ending is poignant:

"Fire cleanses,

And from the ashes

Eventually will sprout

New life."

Thanks for sharing your special insight.
